Memorial Day 2024

Image
Memorial Day 2024 The Memorial Day 2024 holiday is a few days from now. It represents the unofficial start of Summer, schools release for the Summer Break, pools open for swimmers, and many people fire-up their grills for hot-dogs, cheeseburgers, barbecue chicken, and shrimp. The Memorial Day Holiday, itself, commemorates military veterans who have died in battle while serving their country. The U.S. Department of Defense spends more than $800 billion per year, and leads NATO, the most powerful military alliance on Earth. This is more than simply choosing between guns and butter. The $800 billion of military and defense spending could feed half the population of the United States for an entire year. Furthermore, after spending nearly $10 trillion on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the American people are no safer today than on the day of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The military leadership both at the Pentagon and at NATO have shown themselves to be among the most incom

New Age Movement Reconciliation

Image
New Age Movement Reconciliation In years past I have been extremely critical of the New Age Movement, especially that of Scientology. However, in the spirit of Inter-Faith Dialog along with further personal research on matters of Philosophy of Religion and Philosophy of Science, I am willing to retract some of my harshest criticisms and concede Scientology does meet all the criteria of an actual religion. I am a Christian Baptist. My religious identity is firmly rooted in the Christian Baptist Establishment. I am a descendant of the Christian Baptist Separatists of the 1620 Mayflower and Plymouth Plantation. My stepfather founded what is now Skyline Baptist Church. I was baptized by the Reverend Danny Clegg at the Front Royal Baptist Temple. I have read the entire King James Study Bible authorized by Liberty Baptist College and University. Christian Baptists played an important role in securing Religious Freedoms of the First Amendment. I also have distant ancestry of the Seneca Nativ

The Gregory Lewis 2024 Campaign

Image
The Gregory Lewis 2024 Write-In Digital Political Campaign The Protest Vote That Counts! Firstly, I will not in any way be registering my candidacy for any political office. Secondly, I will not in any way be accepting monies, donations, gifts, or compensation of any kind for this write-in political campaign. Finally, you will need to check the local rules and laws in your specific jurisdiction pertaining to write-in political campaigns, before writing my name, Gregory Lewis, onto the ballot. Plato of Ancient Athens stated the punishment for those who do not participate in the political process is to be governed by their inferiors. Indeed, Aristotle’s book on Politics was the pinnacle of political science for over 1,000 years, and is still read in reverence today. Many professional Philosophers, Theologians, Economics, Military Commanders, Attorneys, and other experts on politics have written, debated, and discussed at great length on the subject of politics and governing. It could ri

Spring Break 2024

Image
Spring Break 2024 March is a very busy time of year for the capital markets, in politics, religion, farms, and construction. The month of March gets its name from Mars, the Greek-Roman god of war. Historically, this is the time of year when the military resumed their fighting campaigns after holding Winter camp. The month of March is, also, when many college students take Spring Break and return for mid-term exams. For online college students the month of March is a time to change all those passwords, back-up all of your work for the semester, and do any quick system cleans or update installs that have been on hold since the New Year. It is extremely important to have a safe, stable Windows PC heading into mid-terms and the second half of the semester. I am a Microsoft Certified Windows Programmer. Most of my PC work meets or exceeds U.S. Government/Military standards. Most of my professional IT work has been related to e-commerce and data science programming. In the past 20 years I ha

Riding the Digital Dragon

Image
Riding the Digital Dragon In the world of computing it is often said “you are either a 1, or a Zero.” In the world of computers there is a very big difference between being a “1” and being a “Zero.” If an office PC needs repair, either you can repair it, or you cannot. If a $200,000 server goes down and your losing money by the second, either you can get the server back online, or you can’t. Again, there is a very big difference between being a “1” or a “Zero”, in the world of computing. Interesting enough, about the first month or so of every modern-day introductory computer programming course you will learn almost exactly what Aristotle taught his logic students 2,400 years ago in ancient Athens. Modern computer programming logic has been improved and refined over the many centuries since Aristotle’s time. Today, digital computer programming is more akin to doing a Calculus math problem, than doing the Algebra and Geometry of ancient Athens. Dragons, along with wolves, owls, and uni

Cracking the Mountain Code

Image
Cracking the Mountain Code An ancient Jewish Proverb says “You go to the desert to find your soul, you go to the mountain to find God.” As part of my two-year research into the Apocalypse, I found that proverb to be consistently true. Moses, the Olympians, and many other ancient cultures regularly identified and associated mountains and mountain ranges with God and other deities. While only 10% of the world’s population lives in mountainous regions, more than half of humanity depends on drinking water originating from mountain sources. The search for coal-powered electricity led me to the nearby Appalachia Mountains. Geologically speaking, both my hometown of Front Royal, Virginia and my alma-mater of Virginia Tech are part of the broader Appalachia Mountain ranges. However, they are not usually included as part of the traditional Appalachian Regional Commission. The Appalachian Regional Commission, or ARC, consists of 408 counties in 14 different states, with more than 20 million peo

Microsoft: The Most Valuable Company On Earth

Image
Microsoft: The Most Valuable Company On Earth American free-market capitalism has proven to be the greatest wealth generator in recorded human history. Most of the major stock indices are trading at all-time highs. While only 20% of Americans own 80% of all stocks traded on the exchanges, about half of all Americans own some kind of stocks as part of their personal financial portfolios. The Microsoft Corporation has recently surpassed the $3 Trillion market-cap with a reasonable multiple valuation of 35. With a better credit-rating than the U.S. Government, Microsoft has become the most valuable publicly-traded company on Earth. I hold a B.S. Business Economics from Virginia Tech and I am a Microsoft Certified Windows Programmer. The recent Microsoft news was quite welcome as we started the new year 2024. At this time last year, there were a bunch of bank failures and the PC market was still in rapid decline from the PC “pandemic-boom” sales highs. However, with PC shipments and sales
